I’m Philip Roberts and I worked with TVCA’s Business Support Team, which is involved with general administration work.
I was involved in a variety of projects, including working alongside Teesside Airport in organising and sorting through existing data. I was also able to self-manage my own tasks, supporting others throughout the organisation, which I particularly enjoyed, with the freedom and variety it gave to my day-to-day tasks.
Throughout the internship there are a wide variety of unique opportunities to visit different sites and businesses. I particularly enjoyed attending the bus tour which showcased the best of Tees Valley, highlighting the projects TVCA has been involved in. This was a great opportunity to meet the other interns and bring TVCA’s work to life.
I initially applied to the internship scheme to improve my confidence when meeting new people and networking in a professional environment. Over my time here, I was able to do just that and found that completing tasks out of my comfort zone improved my motivation and learning. I would like to pass my personal thanks to my team in supporting me with achieving these personal milestones.
After the internship, I plan to return to my job as a Student Support Worker where I support 16 to 24-year-olds with Learning Disability/or Autism secure work experience placements and helping them with Maths and English qualifications. I now hope to take the skills and insight I have gained at TVCA forward and develop them further throughout my career.
