My name is Rowan, I just finished my degree studying Animation Production at Arts University Bournemouth and I’m one of the Creative Place Team’s interns this year.
I decided to apply to this position because I was keen to gain more work experience straight out of uni. This internship looks great on my CV and has really diversified the range of things I can talk about in interviews and job applications. It’s a great opportunity for anyone who wants to build a foundation in widely transferable skills like project management, communication, administration and networking.
My experience of the internship has been fantastic, and I feel like I have learned so much. As a Creative Place Intern, it has been my job to investigate the digital marketing strategies of local visitor economy businesses, assist in the TVCA’s digital badging initiative, attend meetings with local arts and cultural organisations, and generally provide administrative and operational support to the team.
A highlight of the internship was the opportunity I had to attend The Great Yorkshire Show as a member of the Tees Valley stand, assisting show-goers with stand activities and answering any questions they may have about the region. During the day I also got to explore the showgrounds, chat to a lot of nice people and eat a lot of good food.
After the internship I plan to focus on developing my creative and technical skills, then training to acquire my PGCE.
Everyone I met in the office was super kind and friendly and made me feel comfortable and welcome since day one. I would definitely recommend applying to this internship as I feel like it has plenty to offer regardless of your background or aspirations.
