Hart Biologicals

Hart Biologicals is a Hartlepool-based manufacturer and global supplier of specialised reagents for haemostasis and platelet function analysis, with more than two decades of experience in the sector.

As the company develops new technology, it is focusing on expanding its international footprint and reaching customers directly.

The opportunity

With a new device ready for market, the business identified an opportunity to move beyond traditional contract manufacturing and establish direct relationships with hospitals and clinicians worldwide.

To achieve this, it needed to increase its presence at international events and build new global connections.

Through the Tees Valley Export Fund, Hart Biologicals secured grant support to accelerate its export activity.

The programme provides funding to help businesses attend trade events, conduct market research and adapt their offer for international markets, supporting both new and established exporters.

Alexander Ebinger said:

“The export fund has really helped with that.”

The results

The funding has delivered immediate results, enabling the company to generate new international business opportunities and strengthen its position in overseas markets.

After attending a key industry congress in Germany, the business secured a significant number of new leads.

Alexander said:

“It’s been great to get there – we got roughly 50 new sales leads out of the recent attendance.”

The company has also taken on a new member of staff and is expanding its premises at Queen’s Meadow to support future growth.

By supporting businesses like Hart Biologicals to access global markets, the Export Fund is helping to drive regional growth, create jobs and increase the value of exports from Tees Valley.

Looking ahead

With plans to continue expanding its facilities and international reach, Hart Biologicals is well positioned to build on this momentum and grow its presence in global healthcare markets.

Alexander added:

“We would recommend the fund.”

The Export programme – funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and delivered in partnership with the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) – offers financial support to businesses that are either starting out on their export journey or looking to grow or diversify their current export activities.
