An exciting opportunity for six cultural leaders or creative professionals in the Tees Valley region to be matched with a mentee, to build confidence, navigate current professional challenges and to plan next steps within their chosen career path.
“Mentoring is to support and encourage people to manage their own learning in order that they may maximise their potential, develop their skills [and] improve their performance.” – Eric Parsloe, The Oxford School of Coaching and Mentoring.
Mentoring is a partnership between two people (mentor and mentee) normally working in a similar field or sharing similar experiences. Mentoring can be a useful way of gaining support and advice from someone who has experience in a particular area or sector. It can provide the mentee with an opportunity to think about how they might progress in their career and get feedback on work related issues. The mentor can act as a sounding board offering advice for career and professional development and helping the mentee to consider different perspectives.
‘I now feel much more confident in navigating my creative career and understand that there are many different ways to lead.’
