Loganair Unveils New Teesside To Southampton Route

Teesside International Airport | Published on: 8th September 2021

Local people looking to visit the south coast will soon be able to get there quicker and easier than ever, as Loganair today (8 September) announced its new route from Teesside International Airport to Southampton.

This is the latest destination to be announced as part of Loganair’s adapted 2022 summer schedule, with the UK’s biggest regional airline running 6 weekly flights from 27 May 2022, starting at just £70.99 one way including 15kg luggage allowance.

Southampton is a fantastic place for a city break with retail therapy galore and great places to eat and drink. It boasts a host of heritage attractions including the Sea City Museum, which tells the story of the Titanic and its tragic voyage from Southampton Docks plus uncover 800 years of history at the Tudor House and Garden.

The flights will act as an important connection to the cruise capital of Europe, with voyages to the likes of North America, the Caribbean and Scandinavia coming back to the city as international travel restrictions ease further following the coronavirus.

The news comes just days after it was revealed flights to Dublin would return to the airport next year, running every Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 29 May and 25 October, alongside double daily flights to Aberdeen plus connections to London Heathrow, Belfast and Newquay.

Tickets are now on sale at www.loganair.co.uk.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “Whether people are after a city break, planning for a cruise or using Southampton as a stopping-off point to the popular Isle of Wight, this fantastic new connection gives them the chance to get from their doorstep to the coast quickly and with ease.

“It will also provide a great link for local businesses looking to get noticed, do business or expand in the south, plus open up many more opportunities for companies looking to relocate to Teesside, Darlington or Hartlepool.

“We’re also looking forward to welcoming people from the coastal city through our new-look terminal and showing them everything that our region has to offer, as we continue to recover our hospitality and tourism sectors and look forward to a summer of festivals and fun, following the coronavirus pandemic.”

Kay Ryan, chief commercial officer at Loganair, said: “We are looking to 2022 with optimism and continuing to connect more and more of the UK as we are able to do.

“Customer booking patterns will remain an incredibly important factor for us as we review which services we operate and which destinations we add either frequency or additional seat capacity to.  We’ve had a really positive reaction from customers so far for next summer and we look forward to welcoming old and new alike back on board.”
