Majorca Tops the Charts at Teesside Airport as TUI Unveils More Hotels for 2024

Holiday operator TUI has revealed Majorca has come out on top in the popularity charts at Teesside Airport as it unveils a raft of new hotels in its portfolio for 2024.

One of the UK’s biggest holiday companies, TUI returned its service to Palma last summer after a nine-year absence. Now the company has unveiled new statistics showing Majorca topped the charts as the most searched for destination from Teesside – prompting the firm to double the number of flights from Teesside this summer.

Its figures also revealed seven-night stays had proven popular, with more than 41% of travellers booking a 4-star hotel, 63% opting for half-board, and almost a quarter of passengers from Teesside choosing a 14-night stay away.

TUI has added an additional 1,500 hotels to its wider accommodation portfolio for summer 2024, following strong bookings in January for this summer, and early bookings already locked in for next year.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “Last summer saw some of the highest passenger numbers seen for decades, and thanks to local people backing our airport, airlines are also backing us by offering more of the flights people want.

“TUI is a key part of our journey to success and its doubling of Palma flights for this summer, and trips to Dalaman in 2024, are great news and a massive vote of confidence in our fantastic airport.

“This summer promises to be brilliant one. TUI are playing their part helping us turn the airport around and it’s great to hear more hotels will be available in 2024. Rest assured, we are all working hard to secure more flights and more routes for the people of Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool.”

Andrew Flintham, Managing Director at TUI UK & Ireland, added: “We are proud of our unrivalled regional flying programme that operates from more UK airports than any other international airline, offering more flexibility and choice to our customers from 20 regional airports.

“Teesside Airport has long been an important partner of ours and it’s great to see the evolution of this important partnership flying to more destinations.

“The additional hotels on sale for next summer is testament to positive bookings and we know Brits want to travel more than ever. We are continually focussed on expanding our regional flying programme so that we can continue to make great holidays accessible for as many people as possible.

“At TUI, we’re proud to be an award-winning travel company – recently winning Best Travel Company for summer sun holidays, Best Travel Company for winter sun holidays, Best Travel Company for Lakes and Mountains holidays and Best Travel Company for Ski/ Winter sports holidays at the British Travel Awards. We offer an outstanding range of holidays and owned hotels concepts, like TUI Blue.”
