Our region hit another huge milestone in this month’s Spring Budget, with the confirmation that we’re going to benefit from an Investment Zone – giving our digital and creative sector a £160million boost.
This will supercharge world-leading companies in these sectors, giving us more funding and powers over infrastructure, and further complement our Mayoral Development Corporations.
Speaking of which, plans are coming along quickly for improvements to Hartlepool’s Middleton Grange Shopping Centre in our HDC. And the Board also recently backed a £120milliion housing and commercial development for the town’s waterfront – key to our plans.
On top of that, it has been revealed that the Teesside Freeport is the UK’s best performing, as Willis’ Sustainable Aviation Fuel production facility moved ahead at Teesworks.
And in transport, we’ve outlined our proposals for £40million of funding to regenerate South Bank station – as work is set to begin on Eaglescliffe station.
