Tees Valley Combined Authority | Published on: 21st March 2017

Tees Valley Combined Authority last year successfully secured funding to deliver the Careers and Enterprise initiative to strengthen the links between schools, colleges and employers across the region.

More than 40 people have volunteered from local businesses to be Careers and Enterprise Advisors that work with schools on a one-to-one basis to help young people find a successful career.

Following the success of the programme the team has now secured an additional £25,000 incentive payment for hitting the targets set.

The Careers and Enterprise Company, which is a national programme supported by £20m of government funding, aims to develop the quality of careers, enterprise and employer engagement programmes in schools and colleges.

This helps young people to get the best possible advice from local employers.

Councillor Christopher Akers-Belcher, Lead Member for Education, Employment & Skills at Tees Valley Combined Authority, said: “Finding the best possible start in working life is critical for the future prospects of young people in Tees Valley

“It is great to see our local businesses are playing such an important role, creating powerful, lasting connections with schools and colleges.

Companies who have a Careers and Enterprise Advisor include:

  • Bulkhaul Ltd
  • Middleton Grange Shopping Centre
  • SABIC
  • James Cook Hospital
  • Endeavour Partnership
  • Edward Robertson Ltd
  • ElringKlinger

The scheme continues to expand and increase the collaborative working between schools and businesses. If you’d like to find out more about this programme visit www.teesvalley-ca.gov.uk/EnterpriseAdvisor
