Tees Valley Combined Authority | Published on: 11th July 2016
The Tees Valley Combined Authority has met to establish a consultation on the specific powers and governance arising from the Tees Valley Devolution Deal.
Following the meeting, the Tees Valley Combined Authority in conjunction with the five local councils (Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees) agreed to begin a consultation process on the proposed powers of a Tees Valley Mayoral Combined Authority.
Dave Budd, chair of Tees Valley Combined Authority, said: “The Tees Valley devolution deal includes provisions to change the governance of the Tees Valley Combined Authority to incorporate a Mayor.
“A consultation process will now start asking for views on the specific powers and areas of responsibility which will come to the Tees Valley and the checks and balances that we need to put in place to ensure these are effectively governed.”
