A leading forum to showcase the best of our region’s engineering strengths over breakfast has seen another good turnout for key speakers.
Global energy leader Alfanar and innovative systems integrator CatalSys offered presentations on their exciting future plans in the region at Friday’s Tees Engineering Network breakfast event (4 July).
The headquarters of the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS), in Eaglescliffe, hosted dozens of engineering professionals who grabbed a coffee at the breakfast during structured networking sessions for suppliers and manufacturers.
Dr Simon Owens, Director of Engineering & Technical at Alfanar, offered insight on its Lighthouse Green Fuels Project set for Teesside – with a landmark £1.5bn Sustainable Aviation Fuel plant in the pipeline.
Meanwhile, Hartlepool-based Catalsys offered insight on connecting businesses to off-grid green power using green ammonia as a fuel, and its own patented technology.
The morning gatherings bring together manufacturers, subcontractors, project developers, and engineering professionals from across the Tees Valley to explore emerging projects, share best practice, and strengthen regional supply chain capabilities.
Sharon Lane, Managing Director of Tees Components and TEN organiser, said: “It was brilliant to see another great turnout at our breakfast event. They offer a handy opportunity for local SMEs to hear directly from global players like alfanar and CatalSys at the start of the working day – I hope they got a good chance to look at how we can work together on large‑scale energy and industrial projects.”
Established more than a decade ago, TEN is a business-driven network supporting local engineering sectors through business-to-business networking and sector development.
With strategic backing from Tees Valley Combined Authority, TEN informs local firms about major opportunities and fosters cross regional collaboration.
It is spearheaded by Axiom Eng. Assoc. Ltd and Tees Components Ltd.
Rob Johnson, from Axiom and TEN, added: “It was a great event – and it was also wonderful to see a good number of donations to GNAAS on the day.”
Vicky Fisher, CSR & Philanthropy Specialist at GNAAS, said: “It was a pleasure to host the latest TEN event at our headquarters, and have the opportunity to speak to a group of engineering professionals to help raise awareness of the incredible work of GNAAS.
“We understand the value of networking and collaboration and we’re proud to offer a range of conference facilities in support of our charity.”
