Folk Festival to Cap Off Bumper Season of Events in Our Region

Hartlepool Folk Festival will bring down the curtain on a packed summer of Tees Valley events which have entertained thousands of revellers.

The Headland will host a string of great acts from Friday, 4 October, to Sunday, 6 October, as well as the free family festival, special guests and workshops.

Headline acts including Kate Rusby, The Breath, Maya Youssef, Ross Ainslie & Ali Hutton, and Jasdeep Singh Degun will all perform – with special guest and American folk legend Peggy Seeger joining to mark the 40^th Anniversary of the Miners’ Strike.

The three-day spectacular caps off a busy summer season of events supported by Tees Valley Combined Authority.

They include James Arthur’s homecoming gig at the Riverside Stadium in June, Middlesbrough Mela, Last Train Home Festival, in Darlington, Saltburn Food Festival and Festival of Thrift in Billingham.

Pride events have been held across all five boroughs for the first time while the region also welcomed the Tour of Britain for a stage racing from Darlington to Redcar.

These all provided an economic boost of millions of pounds to our region while creating memories to last a lifetime.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “It’s been great to see another outstanding summer of events across Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool.

“Our support has delivered a hugely entertaining range of events which are not only great fun for local people but also attract visitors to the area which supports our fantastic businesses.

“We want to keep bringing huge acts to our region and inspire our future generations and talent through our funding. Backing our events is doing just that.”

Cllr Brenda Harrison, Leader of Hartlepool Borough Council and Combined Authority Cabinet Member for Culture, added: “We’re rounding off a fabulous summer of Tees Valley events supported by the Combined Authority with the superb Hartlepool Folk Festival. It features some world class performers and showcases our beautiful Headland area.

“Events like these show the fantastic range of experiences that Hartlepool and the Tees Valley as a whole can offer to visitors and local people alike, bringing pleasure to thousands and a very important boost to our economy.

Tickets to the main Folk Festival can be purchased on Hartlepool Folk Festival’s website. Visitors don’t need a ticket to enjoy the Family Festival.
