A transformative accommodation and hotel development planned for Middlesbrough is to be the focus of a prestigious national showcase.
Hundreds of business owners, investors and organisations are to attend this year’s edition of UKREiiF, from 20 May to 22 May, in Leeds.
They will be joined by the Tees Valley Mayor, Tees Valley Combined Authority and developers iMpeC and Buccleuch Property, who are leading a major regeneration effort in Gresham in partnership with Middlesbrough Development Corporation.
A £200million project in the heart of Middlesbrough took a step forward this month, with the Middlesbrough Development Corporation Planning Board giving the go-ahead for the development of a new hotel, 240 build-to-rent properties, and student accommodation for more than 400 people.
And more detail behind the vision to drive significant economic growth in the town is set to be unveiled at UKREiiF 2025.
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “This is the biggest investment in Middlesbrough for generations – and it’s showing exactly what can be achieved when we back ambition with action.
“Gresham has been crying out for meaningful regeneration for years – and now, with the support of the Middlesbrough Development Corporation and our partners, we’re delivering just that.
“Unveiling more about this project at UKREiiF puts Middlesbrough on a national stage, showing investors that the town is open for business and full of potential.”
Middlesbrough Development Corporation teamed up with experienced property developers iMpeC and Buccleuch Property to make the Gresham project a reality.
This month, Middlesbrough Council agreed to transfer land and assets at Gresham to Middlesbrough Development Corporation to allow the project to progress.
Neil McMillan, iMpeC Director, said: “Our Gresham development will be a transformational project for Middlesbrough and we are looking forward to sharing further details of our plans at UKREiiF.
“This event will provide an excellent platform to highlight our vision for Gresham and expand on our proposals for a vibrant and sustainable development which will support the growth of Middlesbrough and revitalise a key town centre location.”
The Combined Authority and its five local authority partners will be returning to UKREiiF for a third year in a new location on the canal – highlighting a huge range of developments across the region.
Representing Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees, the packed three-day programme will feature opportunities for businesses and investors looking to get ahead of the curve.
Visitors will find out why we’re the fastest growing digital cluster in the UK, get the latest from Teesworks, the UK’s biggest development zone and part of the UK’s biggest Freeport.
They will also hear about the region’s Mayoral Development Corporations, Tees Valley Investment Zone, and Stockton’s vision to develop a new Care and Health Innovation Zone.
Matt Christie, Director of External Relations and Event Programme at UKREiiF, said: “As a proud Teessider, it means a lot to see the Tees Valley well represented at UKREiiF 2025.
“I’m passionate about the role this region plays in the wider creative and investment landscape, and it’s fantastic to see that recognised on a national stage.
“This year, we’re expecting thousands of attendees to join us in Leeds, and I’m confident the festival will once again spark exciting conversations, forge powerful connections, and lead to some truly impactful developments for the year ahead.”
