New Business Supplier Database Backed To Help Tees Valley Firms Secure Work On Major Projects

The Tees Valley Business Board has backed the launch of a new database to ensure more of our local firms secure work on major projects.

Companies can now opt in to join a supplier link list when signing up for support from Tees Valley’s Business team.

The new form will ultimately help national and international companies starting new projects understand the expertise, skills, and services available to them within local and regional supply chains.

Firms can supply a basic, secure list of details – including contacts and the services they offer – which can be shared with interested third parties wanting to connect with the local supply chain.

The launch marks the first move and endorsement by the Tees Valley Business Board under the chairmanship of Matthew Ord.

And he is keen to see businesses sign up and benefit from large-scale projects across the region.

Matt said: “We’re home to a massive number of superb companies with decades of experience and expertise, and we want big investors coming to the region to know how they can tap into our brilliant firms and services.

“Launching this portal will play an important role in promoting our local companies while also simplifying the supply chain process for both major investors and our own firms. This will help attract further investment and ensure large-scale projects bring direct local benefits.”

It comes as more than 160 firms signed up to this week’s Procurement in Practice breakfast event at the Riverside Stadium (4 March) to demystify how to access work on public and private sector contracts and projects.

The recent second annual Tees Valley Supply Chain showcase – featuring speakers and representatives including Global Underwater Hub, Tees Valley Lithium, JDR Cable Systems, North East Screen, and the Boulby Development Project – also saw hundreds of firms attend Hardwick Hall to link up with key projects and decision-makers.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “We’ve got huge projects happening right now, from Teesworks to Teeslink in Stockton, and major investment into Darlington and Hartlepool. There are massive opportunities on our doorstep – and I want local firms at the front of the queue.

“This is a great initiative by the Tees Valley Business Board to back our brilliant companies to make sure the big national and international companies coming here know exactly who they should be working with.

“Your details are secure, it takes minutes to sign up, and it’s another no-nonsense way to tap into the huge pipeline of work we’re delivering.

“If you’re based in Teesside, Darlington or Hartlepool and you want to be part of our next chapter – sign up now and make sure you’re in the mix.”

Cllr Alec Brown, TVCA Cabinet Member for Business Growth and Net Zero, added: “We are built on the strength, innovation and resilience of our local businesses – and we want to see them right at the heart of the major projects transforming our region.

“This is another practical step to connect our firms with the real opportunities being created.

“By making it easier for national and international investors to see the depth of expertise we have here, we’re not only strengthening our supply chains but also reducing unnecessary miles, backing sustainable growth and keeping more value within our communities.”
