Invaluable expert guidance to win contracts on major developments across our region and beyond is now on offer.
The half-day Procurement in Practice event, at The Riverside Stadium, will help businesses in our region looking to tie in with major projects in both the public and private sectors.
Opening with breakfast and networking, the short, sharp session on Wednesday, 4 March will look to lift the mystery over how the public sector buys in work, how the private sector looks for firms and simplify how procurement routes work.
It will also cover the hot topics of boosting social value and corporate social responsibility.
This event is part of the Tees Valley Business Masterclass Series – a string of workshops designed to kickstart 2026 for firms – led by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council and delivered by all our Local Authorities on behalf of the Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority.
Spaces for this free expert-led procurement session from 9.30am onwards are still available.
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “We’ve got billions of pounds of investment coming into Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool – but those projects aren’t doing what they should if our brilliant local businesses can’t get a way in.
“This masterclass will lift the lid on procurement, cut through the jargon and give firms clear, practical routes into winning work.
“If you’re serious about growing your business and securing contracts, this is exactly the kind of support we’re putting in place to help you do it – so grab a spot while you can.”
Experts from NEPO (North East Procurement Organisation), Thirteen Housing Group and Esh Group are all set to feature, as well as senior procurement officers from the Combined Authority and Middlesbrough Council.
Matthew Ord, Chair of the Tees Valley Business Board, will host a Q&A panel, before the morning is rounded off with a chance to connect with procurement teams and support organisations as part of a buyer marketplace.
Matt said: “If you want to strengthen your bidding approach and secure new contracts, this is one not to miss.
“It’s practical, it’s straight-talking and it puts you in the room with the people who make the decisions. It really is worth taking the time out of the office – it could make a real difference to your order book.”
The series is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
“Get involved,” said Cllr Alec Brown, TVCA Cabinet Member for Business Growth and Net Zero and Leader of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.
“We’ve some huge projects coming together both in our borough and across the Tees Valley – and it’s crucial our businesses have the backing they need to get work, secure contracts and grow.”
