Training for Governors of Maintained Schools and Academy Trusts
As a governor, you play a key role in the success of our schools across the Tees Valley and we value the contribution, energy and commitment you bring.
Governor training and development is key in helping you acquire the knowledge and skills needed to respond to the challenge of governance. With this in mind, colleagues in governor services across the Tees Valley are working collaboratively to increase the scope and number of training opportunities available to you. Regardless of the location of the school where you are a serving governor, you will have immediate access to all training sessions organised by Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton local authorities. A programme of the sessions organised, to date, for the autumn term 2019 is set out in the catalogue below. This information will be updated throughout the year for any additional sessions which may be arranged. All training is facilitated by skilled and knowledgeable tutors with a wealth of experience.
It should be pointed out that all training is free to governors where their governing board buys into a service level agreement which covers access to as many courses as they wish, with any of the four local authorities. Other governors and staff are also very welcome to partake in any of the courses on a pay-as-you-go basis. For a pay-as-you-go charge, please contact the LA who has organised the course.

We aim to produce a comprehensive training and development programme throughout the academic school year, which will reflect the support needed in helping you undertake your role as key strategic decision maker, accountable for ensuring the best possible education for every child.
