Tees Valley is home to much of Britain’s greatest heritage and culture with significant landscapes and nature. This is your chance to play an exciting role in its future development as a place where people thrive through cultural opportunity.
Tees Valley has many cultural assets, rich stories and heritage, and excellent arts organisations such as ARC in Stockton and Tees Valley Arts. Festivals such as the Stockton International Riverside Festival and Festival of Thrift create opportunities to experience amazing things, and new venues are about to open including Middlesbrough Town Hall as a refurbished concert venue, the Hippodrome Theatre and Theatre Hullabaloo in Darlington. In addition, Kirkleatham Stables, Gardens & Showground, Mima, Hartlepool’s National Museum of the Royal Navy and Maritime Heritage, Preston Hall and Park, the Dorman Museum and Ormesby Hall are strong parts of our cultural landscape. There are cultural organisations developing the arts and several major heritage based capital developments including the realisation of the Stockton and Darlington Railway Heritage, further maritime heritage development and the potential to develop further festivals and events in the region. We also have poetry and book festivals and new events and festivals in development. We want to build and strengthen our cultural ecosystem to create more opportunity for our communities and people.
Could you play a critical role in facilitating and helping develop the formulation of plans and strategies for culture which will enhance the contribution of culture, arts and heritage to economic growth and community well-being?
Can you proactively help broker partnerships and develop frameworks within which organisations can collaborate, access resources, and achieve improved outcomes for the Tees Valley and create greater capacity in the cultural sector whilst managing the financial, investment and administrative processes for cultural investment within TVCA and on behalf of arts and culture partners and partnerships to ensure effective and timely delivery of projects?
The Tees Valley Combined Authority is responsible for overseeing around £½ billion in investment funds, with more to come through new devolution deals. In May 2017, the residents of the Tees Valley elected a Mayor for the Tees Valley, Ben Houchen, who Chairs the Combined Authority.
The Tees Valley covers five local authorities – Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Stockton and Redcar & Cleveland – with a combined population of 660,000 and borders County Durham and North Yorkshire.
The Authority incorporates the highly successful Tees Valley Local Enterprise Partnership, and sustains strong links with the local business community and other partners. Together, we aim to create 25,000 jobs and £2.8bn extra growth by 2026.
