Tees Valley Combined Authority has produced a new Education, Employment and Skills Strategy, “Inspiring Our Future”, which outlines our plans to build the skills we need for a modern economy. The Strategy document has been consulted on and you can now view the final document here.
The aim of the Strategy is to transform Education, Employment and Skills in our area, ensuring local people have the right skills, experience and opportunities to access employment, and that local businesses need to thrive. We also know that addressing issues such as low pay and insecure work depends critically on creating new opportunities to gain the skills required by our modern labour market.
Tees Valley is starting to benefit from new powers, functions and responsibilities devolved from central Government into our area. This is a significant opportunity to reform and expand our local skills system, creating more and better opportunities for local people and the jobs and skills we need for the future.
With high growth expected in a number of our key economic sectors we need to raise skills and employment levels to help attract new businesses to the area, and provide support to local people to access these jobs. We want Tees Valley to become the best place in the country to learn and work.
