Tees Valley Combined Authority has produced a draft Education, Employment and Skills strategy, “Inspiring Our Future”, which outlines our plans to build the skills we need for a modern economy. We are pleased to enclose a copy, and to seek your views on the plans we are putting forward.
Our aim is to transform Education, Employment and Skills in our area, ensuring local people have the right skills, experience and opportunities to access employment, and that local businesses need to thrive. We also know that addressing issues such as low pay and insecure work depends critically on creating new opportunities to gain the skills required by our modern labour market.
The Tees Valley is starting to benefit from new powers, functions and responsibilities, devolved from central government into our area. This is a significant opportunity to reform and expand our local skills system, creating more and better opportunities for local people, and the jobs and skills we need for the future.
With high growth expected in a number of our key economic sectors, we need to raise skills and employment levels to help attract new businesses to the area, and provide support to local people to access these jobs. We want the Tees Valley to become the best place in the country to learn and work.
The full strategy document can be accessed by clicking here and I urge you to please take the time to read it and provide us with your views on our plans. You can do this before the 19th January 2018.
