The Tees Valley Combined Authority is seeking to develop a digital platform that supports the TeesValleycareers.com programme that connects education establishments to the business community for the purpose of improving Careers Education. The platform and resources will support the development of relationships and provide opportunities for career related learning, experiences of work, meaningful encounters with employers and support education providers to achieve the Gatsby Benchmarks.
Currently education establishments complete a ‘shout out’ form requesting support from employers who have registered with TeesValleyCareers.com with careers and enterprise related activities. The form is sent to the Careers team who send this out to the businesses and ‘match’ employers to the learning establishments’ request. The Employer Engagement platform is required to be the direct connection between the businesses and the learning providers.
Users for the digital platform may include; Tees Valley Combined Authority Careers team, Local Authority lead officers, Education Providers and employers. A varied level of access may be required to the platform.
The initial platform would be developed to provide access for age 11-18 education and a further phase of development would be required for Primary careers education.
Alongside the digital platform it is envisaged that staff resource would be required to manage the quality and updating of uploaded information; and the development of employer case studies, including employee role model examples. This would also require support to engage new employers to contribute to the target of 1 000 businesses engaged in careers education in Tees Valley by 2020.
A test user group of stakeholders to assess the effectiveness of the Employer Engagement Platform.
The Employer Engagement Platform should include:
- A bespoke Tees Valley Combined Authority Careers branded platform
- Access for approx. 74, age 11-18 educational establishments, 5 Local Authority leads, TVCA Careers team and capacity for more than 1,000 businesses.
- Exclusive access to Tees Valley education establishments and stakeholders
- Access to registered businesses for Tees Valley and the potential to enable access for businesses external to Tees Valley
- Provide a business to education matching service – educational establishments request engagement activities direct with employers
- Business to business networking
- Reporting service – export/import reports/charts, graphs (Individual schools performance, Local Authority performance, mapping and measuring meaningful employer engagement related to Gatsby Bench Marks, employers and educational establishments engaged) Evidence to support employers Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Value
- Access to a full employer data base for administrative purposes
- Notice board/chat room/blog/skype/video links facilities.
