Based just outside of Yarm The Ship Inn has created a series of ambient spaces perfect for those who want to have drinks with friends or a great dining experience. With a spacious outdoor beer garden and room for all of the family. PS we are dog friendly. The Ship Inn is based on the B1264 to Yarm, but gets its name from a strange 18th-century development. The Peirse brother tried for over 50 years to make Low Worsall a port on the river Tees. Ships would travel in from Portugal and Norway but due to the rivers bendy nature the ships had to be pulled – or tracked – by men. This was a grueling job and the navigators needed somewhere to refresh themselves and that is how The Ship Inn was Born.
