The Waiting Room Vegetarian Restaurant

The Waiting Room is an award winning vegetarian restaurant serving delicious, all natural dishes in a homely neighbourhood setting. This previous recipient of The Best Restaurant in the UK award from the Vegetarian Society will celebrate its 40th anniversary at the end of 2025 and is still going from strength to strength as one of the Tees Valley’s must-visit foody destinations.

Right by Eaglescliffe train station and 10 minutes from Preston Park, The Waiting Room has recently expanded with a super popular community bar in the old chemist shop next door (The Other Room), and a new fast food vegetarian takeaway – vvroom – featuring wood-fired pizzas as well as restaurant food to eat at home, in the old green grocery shop on its other side. But it is the Waiting Room’s timeless slow-cooked Slow Food dining experience for which it remains most famed and celebrated.

The restaurant serves all natural, fresh vegetarian food that is full of flavour with a menu that includes excellent vegan and gluten free options with healthy wholefoods – and creative dishes that appeal to everyone. (Most of the restaurant’s customers are happy omnivores).

The restaurant has put on hundreds of music and arts events, and is also popular for private parties and weddings.
