Game Republic New Horizons on 16th October is a new flagship games industry conference and expo in The North being supported by Tees Valley Combined Authority. The new annual event which takes place this year at the Riverside Stadium is bringing over 200 business leaders from games and creative industries across the North, the UK and overseas to find out about and share new opportunities, transmedia trends, new tech, new global markets, leadership, skills and future funding and investment.
There will be presentations, panels, deep dives and fireside chats with special guests including Axel Torvenius MachineGames creative director of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle in a session supported by BAFTA, comedian Maisie Adam who is currently appearing in Channel 4’s Taskmaster, Harvey Hayman games lead for Hat Trick Productions, Asher McClennahan the Head of Games for Kickstarter from the US, Harinder Sangha CEO of Maverick Games plus Japanese Publishers Rainy Frog, Supercell, the Transcend Fund, BFI’s Global Screen Fund, ID@Xbox, Double Eleven, Red Kite Games, Xsolla, KudosQA, Autodesk and many more studio heads, investors, platform-holders and publishers.
Attendees will have access to MeetToMatch so they can make new contacts. The event will also include a chance to meet Roary the lion, the mascot for Middlesbrough Football Club at lunchtime as a fundraising initiative to support SpecialEffect. GR New Horizons will be followed by an After Party where attendees will have exclusive and unlimited access to two floors of arcade machines, go-karts, bowling, golf, karaoke, VR games and more at LevelX.

You can reach Middlesbrough by rail from towns and cities across the north east and the Tees Valley. The station is served by Northern and TransPennine Express for regular local services, or for travelling to and from the likes of Newcastle city centre, Leeds and Manchester Airport.

If you're flying into Newcastle Airport, you can take the Metro at the airport to Newcastle Central, then Northern services into Middlesbrough. Alternatively, by car, the A1 south then A66 east will have you in the centre in no time.
And coming into Leeds Bradford is also a smooth rail trip - with one change in Leeds, picking up the TransPennine service directly into Middlesbrough. By car, take the A658 and A168 before heading onto the A19 for a trip which will take approximately 1hr 15.
