Blog | Published on: 6th August 2025

Looking for a refreshing and energising way to kickstart your Saturday? Whether you’re a seasoned runner, a casual jogger, or just fancy a friendly stroll with a scenic twist, Parkrun tourism might be your new weekend ritual. Tees Valley is home to a great selection of Parkrun spots, and the best part? They’re totally free, super welcoming, and open to all ages and abilities, even your four-legged friend can join (on a short lead, of course!)

Join the growing community of “Parkrun tourists” and explore the area’s beautiful parks, seaside routes, and woodland trails; all while clocking up the miles and having fun. Here’s how a Saturday morning of active adventure could look…

9:00 AM – Ready, Set, Parkrun!

Pick your favourite from one of Tees Valley’s 8+ Parkrun locations:

  • Seaton Carew – flat, fast and by the sea
  • Redcar, Locke Park – parkland beauty with looped laps
  • Darlington, South Park – ideal for families and central to the town
  • Middlesbrough – take your pick from Albert Park, Stewart Park, or the scenic Flatts Lane Woodland
  • Brotton Marshall Drive – perfect for those who love a community feel
  • Wynyard Woodland – swift, smooth, and surrounded by trees

All Park runs start at 9:00 AM sharp every Saturday. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to soak up the friendly atmosphere and join the pre-run briefing.

Whether you’re chasing a personal best, jogging with friends, or walking with your kids and dog, Parkrun is all about participation, not pace.

9:45–10:15 AM – Finish Line Feels

Most people finish between 20 to 50 minutes, depending on your pace. Once you’ve crossed the line, grab your barcode, cheer on others, and take that all-important Strava post-run pic!

Getting there: All Parkrun locations have parking and are accessible via public transport, walking, or cycling. Check the official Parkrun website for specific course details and travel tips.
