A packed season of summer fun in Middlesbrough (no matter what the weather!)

Inspiration | Published on: 16th June 2022

How does a summer of family fun and entertainment sound? Perfect, right? We just need the weather to get the memo too and we can get started!

It’s very lucky then that Middlesbrough Theatre’s open-air season is set to start on the same day as the heatwave this weekend (we’re crossing everything!)

The full line-up of shows includes:

Here’s the important part. The venue for the shows is Middlesbrough Town Hall Courtyard.

The outdoor town centre location is the perfect size for the shows, and it’s very easy to get to via public transport with plenty of parking available nearby (which is free after 6pm* or reduced rates at weekends).

Three reasons to join in the fun this summer?

Ready, steady, go!

  1. It’s the biggest open-air season for Middlesbrough Theatre so far and there’s something to suit everyone, from family fun to comedy, murder, mayhem and a couple of classics too.
  2. Tables and chairs are provided for you and refreshments are available inside from the bars. All you need to do is book your tickets and choose your seats.
  3. The whole season is family friendly and two shows are specially made with littles in mind. Rapunzel is a hair-raising family adventure recommended for age 4+. Awful Auntie by David Walliams is recommended for age 7+ and includes thrilling chases and escapes, motorcycle rides and erm…tiddlywinks!

Of course we’ve saved the best until last. If the weather does decide to get a bit soggy (boo!) the shows will be moved inside to the Town Hall Crypt. As the saying goes, the show will go on!

Tickets for all shows are on sale now via www.middlesbroughtownhall.co.uk or call 01642 729 729.

*Middlesbrough Council town centre parking is free after 6pm on weekdays. You can download a map here. If you are parking in a private car park, please check parking machines for costs and tickets.
