Free Summer Fun – For All the Family!

Stockton Waterfront Park 

The newly opened waterfront park alongside the River Tees provides a perfect day out for all ages. The urban park consists of adventure, sand and water play areas (perfect for little ones), an oval lawn, an accessible amphitheatre and shelters to relax. Plus, sculptures and illustrations woven into the park’s design offer some interesting insight into the heritage of Stockton Town Centre. 

SIRF Festival (31 July – 2 August) 

The Stockton International Riverside Festival returns yet again for its 39th year, but it looks slightly different this time…  

The three-day event will be held in both the new urban park and Stockton High Street, turning both spaces into venues for a weekend full of unforgettable performances, vibrant celebrations and outdoor art pieces. This spectacular festival brings in global performances from France, Catalonia, Korea and Australia, alongside our own brilliant regional talents. 

This year, audiences will also have increased opportunities to participate within the activities – with more than 11 of the events inviting you to get involved. 

Kip & Nook, Darlington  

Luxury boutique retreat Kip & Nook brings you monthly running clubs this summer (12 July/ 16 August/ 12 September). Open to all running abilities, these events are a great way to meet new people while soaking up the sun. You have the choice between a 5k or 10k. Kip & Nook mark these as dog friendly events and provide a range of prizes and amenities to enhance your experience. Most excitingly, there is locally brewed coffee, alongside a live DJ when you finish your run! Although these sessions are free, there are limited spaces available… so run over to Eventbrite to book in advance. 

Hartlepool Farmer’s Market (8 August)

This may be one of the smaller markets, however it’s perfectly formed, and on the second Saturday of every month it attracts customers who appreciate local food and who firmly believe in supporting local independent businesses.

Middlesborough Mela (15-16 August) 

Middlesborough Mela at Albert Park brings tonnes of family entertainment, cultural celebrations and local talent to the region. Their 36th year running includes a fabulous Micheal Jackson tribute act – you just can’t beat it.
