Mum’s the word this March, with Mother’s Day taking place on Sunday 30th this year. It can be hard to have an experience that can match a wonderful mum, but here are some ideas to push the boat out and give her a day she deserves.
Dine
There are menus that are as unique as each of our mums taking place across the weekend of the 29th and 30th.
Take a relaxing and picturesque cruise down the Tees on the Teesside Princess while enjoying a traditional afternoon tea from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday the 29th. Dobbies Garden Centre in Stockton is also offering afternoon tea, either on its own or alongside a fun hands-on planting experience right across the weekend. Or if you have lots to pack in, there’s a Mother’s Day breakfast with a special gift running from the 21st to 30th of March.
Rockliffe Hall’s traditional Sunday roast is sure to go down a hit in the Clubhouse – made even better by live music from singer Kirsty Forster and, once again, a special gift for mums. Over in Redcar, the Wilton Golf Club is also serving up a traditional roast with Mother’s Day twist.
Events
If you’re mum’s a music fan, there are some great tribute acts taking place on Mother’s Day. Eston Events Centre is hosting a live cabaret with one of the UK’s top Gary Barlow tribute acts, Tony Kay, alongside a table buffet from 3pm to 6pm on the big day.
Keep the party going over in Darlington, as The Hummingbird cocktail bar is welcoming back Darcie Edwards for a Mother’s Day special night of Amy Winehouse hits from 5pm – with a free glass of prosecco too!
Also in the town, the Vault’s Mother’s Day cabaret is offering some alternative celebrations and a night of glamour, laughter and dazzling performances from drag queen Harvey Rose, singers, and even a strongman!
If you and mum want to be at the centre of the action, visit The Globe on Saturday 29th where you can Sing Along to the Musicals and Movies. With a 14-piece band and live singers, you can both sing to your heart’s content to your favourite musical and movie tines,
For something on the quieter side, the Little Silver Kiln in Hartlepool is offering a workshop in how to cut, texture, polish and solder sterling silver into a beautiful set of rings for a fantastic bonding experience.
Gifts
Who says the biggest Boro supporters are men? Middlesbrough FC’s club shop has a range of great gifts for your mam to show that her true colours are red and white – including macaroons, tulips, slippers, PJs and more!
Redcar-based Handmade Hampers have put together some indulgent and luxurious hampers for Mother’s Day, with prosecco, chocolates, bath products, tea and cake and much more!
And over at Teesside Park, firm beauty favourite Lush is selling some fantastic Mother’s Day specific favourites – bath bombs, bubble bars, candles and gift hampers.
