Big crowds have seen some of the world’s best cyclists hit the streets of our region.
Darlington was the starting point for the Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men’s second stage on Wednesday (4 September) – with some of the best cyclists on the planet tackling the 155km route finishing in Redcar via Middleton St George, Eaglescliffe, Yarm, out to Robin Hood’s Bay, and then back north via Saltburn and East Cleveland.
The stage is part of an ongoing partnership between British Cycling and the Combined Authority to grow cycling and tourism links in the region.
This has also helped see the British National Road Championships come to Darlington, Saltburn and East Cleveland in June this year.
The winner of the stage was Stevie Williams.
