Climb the iconic Roseberry Topping for one of the most breathtaking views in Tees Valley. The popular 3km route takes around an hour to complete. This walk gives you panoramic countryside scenery that feels even more special in spring sunshine.
This walk isn’t ideal for prams or strollers but is dog friendly and better suited to older children. After your descent, head to The Kings Head for hearty pub classics and a well-earned drink.
Enjoy a peaceful riverside stroll through Preston Park in Stockton-on-Tees, where flat, scenic paths follow the banks of the River Tees. At around 5km to complete the whole loop, it is ideal for families and relaxed walkers, with the gentle route showcasing open parkland, woodland and wildlife returning for spring. When it’s time to refuel, on-site Preston Park Café offers coffee, cakes and light bites just steps from the trail, making it a satisfying finish. A suitable walk for all ages.
Take a coastal stroll on Seaton Carew Beach in Hartlepool, where wide sandy beaches and sea views make for a refreshing spring walk. The good thing about the beach is you can walk as long as you please! Jump off onto the flat promenade and shoreline paths which are perfect for an easy-going wander with plenty of fresh sea air. Afterwards, unwind with traditional fish and chips at The Almighty Cod, a popular local spot just moments from the seafront.
Stroll around the beautifully restored South Park in Darlington, where lakes, tree-lined paths and colourful flowerbeds shine in spring. The easy circular route takes around an hour to complete (4.2km) and makes it perfect for an afternoon walk with the kids, who are free to roam and explore. Afterwards, head a few minutes into town and enjoy seasonal dishes and sweet treats at The Old Yard Tapas Bar, a stylish spot ideal for rounding off your day.
Explore the scenic trails of Stewart Park in Middlesbrough, where open parkland, peaceful lakes and woodland paths make for a refreshing spring stroll. The walk itself is approximately 3.3 miles – or 7,500 steps – so you’re well on your way to a 10,000 daily goal. This easy, family-friendly route is perfect for soaking up the sunshine and spotting wildlife along the way. Afterwards, treat yourself at on-site Cook’s Café for coffee, treats and a well-earned bite to eat.
