Pumpkin Picking in Tees Valley

Blog | Published on: 4th October 2024

Pumpkin picking is always a great way to get into the spooky spirit before carving your own creepy creations.

Here are five superb local spots where you can pick up a pumpkin and have some Halloween fun!

Newham Grange Farm, Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough

There’s plenty of Halloween fun to be had at Newham Grange, with pumpkin picking, carving and arts and crafts taking place on October 12, 13, 19, 20 & 26-31.

That’s alongside a not-so-scary Halloween Fun Trail around the farm where your little ones can discover the spooky spots to win a small prize. And there’s more to be won with fancy dress prizes to be won.

The farm is open from 10am-4pm every day except Monday.

Normal farm admission applies, with £3.50 per pumpkin.

Cherry Hill is also hosting indoor and outdoor Halloween trails so you can spot the spooks in the evening after a spot of carving.

Tweddle Farm, Blackhall Colliery, near Hartlepool

Tweddle Farm is one of our area’s best loved pumpkin patches and is filled with garden games, face painting, funfair rides, photo opportunities.

The patch is bursting with all kinds of shapes, colours and sizes and you can choose your favourite to take home and carve.

Tickets includes farm and pumpkin patch entry.

Pontac Pumpkins, Longbeck Lane, New Marske

Pontac Farm is an educational visit as well as a fun one – where you can learn about the growing process of the pumpkins as well as picking your own.

As well as a fantastic selection to choose from, you also admire the stunning countryside and coastal views and have fun at the straw bale selfie station.

Open from Friday 25 October to Thursday 31 October, 9am to 4pm, you can book your tickets here.

Baydale Pumpkins, Conscliffe Road, Darlington

This Darlington farm boasts 12 different varieties grown across seven acres – from traditional orange racers to Crown Prince winter squashes.

There’s no need to book for daytime pumpkin picking, but the ever-popular Dusk to Darkness event is returning for a third year. As well as making memories, you can grab a drink at their bar or enjoy churros and other treats at their catering units.
