Pumpkin Picking in the Tees Valley

Nothing says autumn quite like pulling on your wellies, wrapping up warm, and heading out to pick the perfect pumpkin. Whether it’s for carving, cooking, or just brightening up your doorstep, pumpkin picking is a must-do activity in the Tees Valley. Here are some of the top spots to check out this season:

Baydale, Darlington 

A local favourite patch for families around Darlington is returning for another year!

With over 10 varieties of pumpkins to choose from all shapes and sizes are grown on this farm, make sure to keep an eye out on more details to be released soon including some exciting events for 2025.

Newham Grange Farm, Middlesbrough 

Gather your mini ghosts and ghouls and head down to our popular pumpkin patch between the 18 – 19 and 25 – 31 October. There’s small and medium sized pumpkins available, which are perfect for little hands. Pumpkins are priced at £3.50 each and are subject to availability.

The whole farm will have a frightfully fun transformation, take a wander and spot all of our spooky sights. Don’t forget to say hello to our furry friends and treat them a tasty feed bag.

Cherry Hill Garden & Landscape Centre, Middlesbrough

Cherry Hill’s pumpkin patch is back for 2025 and always draws the crowds. 

  • Tickets: £4.95 per person (ages 4+). 
  •  Family Ticket: £16.95 (covers 2 adults + 2 children OR 1 adult + 3 children; under 4s go free). 
  • Pumpkins: Priced separately (£4–£10 depending on size). 
  • Carving Kits: Deluxe kits can be pre-purchased and collected on the day. (Note: carving kits are only available to over 16s; children must be supervised when carving.) 
  • Good to know: This is an outdoor event, it gets muddy, so bring your wellies and dress for the weather! 

Tweedle Farm, Hartlepool

On select dates this October, Tweedle Farm opens its pumpkin patch as part of one of the North East’s favourite seasonal events. 

Dates: 11–12 October 18–19 October 25–26 October, and 27–31 October 2025. 

Expect: 

  • Garden games and funfair rides 
  • Face painting 
  • Family photo spots galore 
  • Pumpkins of every shape, size, and colour 

Tickets: Include entry to the farm and pumpkin patch. (Pumpkins are charged separately and added at checkout.) 

Pontac Pumpkins, New Marske 

A third-generation family farm at the base of Errington Woods, Pontac Farm has been welcoming pumpkin pickers since 2016. With beautiful views towards the coast, it’s a wholesome spot for families, couples, schools, and groups. 

Alongside pumpkins, the farm is still very much a working arable and livestock site, so you’ll get a real feel for countryside life while choosing your perfect pumpkin. Now open from the 18th -31st of October, enjoy the welcoming atmosphere at Pontac and take in the beautiful surroundings.
