Seaton Common is home to a vast number of resident and migratory wading birds, as well as invertebrates and mammals. A wet grassland, which is grazed by cattle, the Common holds much historical interest including the relics of the once thriving salt industry, ridge and furrow and the old sea wall. Across the golf course are Seaton Dunes, one of the largest dune systems between Lindisfarne and the Humber, providing a rich and varied habitat for many plants and animals including fox and short-eared owl.
* Blow the cobwebs away in any season with a bracing walk through the dramatic dune landscape
* Seek out the attractive magenta blooms of the rare purple milk vetch which flowers in the dunes during July and August
* Get the whole family active and fly a kite on the beach, there is plenty of space for aerial dynamics
* In Winter, feast your eyes on large flocks of birds including lapwing, fieldfare, curlew, shelduck and widgeon
* Scan the fence posts and telegraph poles for birds of prey. Kestrel, sparrowhawk and short eared owl hunt over the common
