On Water – Stand Up Paddleboarding

Stand up paddle Boarding (SUP) is an emerging global sport yet an ancient form of surfing. It can be traced back to the very early days of Polynesia. SUP is becoming more and more popular and a great way to keep fit, socialise, learn a new skill and explore the coastline.

You can join On Water for a gentle paddle around the marina or catch a wave on one of the coastal experiences

Many different sessions are available dependant on the desired outcome, with sessions personalised to match ability SUP is a great way to keep fit and make some good friends in the process!

Whether its your first time,or your an avid thrill seeker, On Water promises that your fist time won’t be your last time on – or in the water.

There are a range of experiences which can be custom designed to suit you and your occasion / requirements.

Equipment Provided: Full Length Wetsuit, Personal Flotation Device, Board Paddle and Leash Spectator Friendly: Yes

Hire: To hire a paddle board and paddle on an unsupervised basis you must be able to evidence that you’re competent. A quick 5 minute demo will satisfy us you’re competent although ideally you’ll have completed one of our introduction paddles.

Road Directions

The excellence of the North’s fast road network is enhanced by the lack of major traffic congestion. Motorway standard routes allow quick and stress free travel.The A689 links with both the A19 and A1(M) to provide easy access from the North and South. With the A1(M) linking with the M6 easy access is available from the West. From the North West, the A66 offers connections to the M6. If travelling from Scotland, Newcastle, Gateshead then continue down the A1 until you reach a turn off for A1231 (Sunderland Highway / Washington). The turn off is just passed the Angel of the North. Continue along the A1231 until you reach the A19 and take A19 South.Continue down the A19 South until you reach the A179 (Hartlepool) turn off. Continue towards Hartlepool and follow the signs for the Park & Ride.Travelling from Sunderland, Peterlee - Take the A19 South until you reach the A179 (Hartlepool) turn off. Continue towards Hartlepool and follow the signs for the Park & Ride.Travelling from Durham - Take the A181 and join the A19 South. Take the A19 South until you reach the A179 (Hartlepool) turn off. Continue towards Hartlepool and follow the signs for the Park & Ride.If travelling from the South – Leeds, Yorkshire, Middlesbrough, Redcar, Stockton follow the A19 Northbound until you reach the A689 turn off for Hartlepool. Continue down the A689 and follow signs for the Park & Ride (There are a couple of park and ride car parks along the A689).

Public Transport Directions

Bus - Local bus services are provided around the town mainly by Stagecoachwith Arriva also running a couple of town services. The Stagecoach Group and Tees Valley travel operate services from Hartlepool to Billingham, Stockton and Middlesbrough. Other services are provided by Arriva and Go North East from Hartlepool to Peterlee, Durham, Dalton Park , Sunderland and Newcastle.CoachNational Express travel enquiries can be made by calling: National call – 0990 808080 (calls are answered daily between 0800 – 2200 hours)RailA fast and regular service runs between the North East and London. London and Edinburgh have direct speed services operating to Darlington from where you can catch a local connection to Hartlepool. Hartlepool now has its own direct rail service to London by operator Grand Central. Hartlepool is served by Hartlepool railway station which is on the Durham Coast Line with hourly services to Newcastle and Middlesbrough which are provided by Northern Rail.
