Saltburn, a traditional Victorian seaside town that has retained a lot of its fascinating heritage combined with independent boutiques and eateries has been a popular destination for centuries.
Fresh air and fun can be found on Saltburn Beach and the many attractions that surround it. Saltburn Pier is the last remaining pier in Yorkshire and is home to the oldest water balanced funicular still in operation in Great Britain, the Saltburn Cliff Tramway*. A step away from the beach front is Saltburn Valley Gardens, where many beautiful walks are to be had. The Valley Gardens incorporate the Valley Woods, a miniature railway, Italian Gardens, Woodland Centre and Tea Rooms.
*Regrettably the Tramway is currently closed following a fire. Works are well underway to restore this much-loved attraction and will reopen in the coming weeks.

We understand that not all schools will be close to the race route and that it’s early in the term, which might make it challenging to participate. However, if you’re able to, we’d love to see your students get involved in any way that works for you — whether by decorating, participating in classroom activities, or watching the race live on ITV4.
