Taste of Africa North East, in partnership with The Auxiliary Project and Hillstreet Shopping Centre, is bringing you the AFRICA DAY TAKEOVER – 24 MAY

For one day only, Hillstreet Shopping Centre will be transformed into a vibrant cultural hub, celebrating the richness and creativity of African heritage. Expect a full centre takeover, with empty shops turning into immersive spaces filled with live music, poetry, fashion, dance, and art.

• Live Performances – Powerful storytelling through music, poetry, and dance.

• Creative Workshops – Hands-on activities including screen printing, music production, and podcasting.

• African Market – A showcase of authentic crafts, fashion, and food, bringing a taste of Africa to Teesside.

This event is more than a celebration—it’s a space for unity, culture, and connection. As Middlesbrough continues to grow as a diverse community, we aim to highlight the shared histories and cultures that shape the town today.
