Behind The Curtain Cabaret is organised by local band The Jam Buddies and will feature performances by some great Tees Valley acts: local choir The Lattes will be singing, comedy sketches from Jigsaw and Full Circle, music from amazing bands Brass Eyed Dragons and of course The Jam Buddies with the night rounded off with dancing and DJing from the brilliant ARCtic Piranha club night. Your cabaret comperes for the night are DJ Gav and The Megatron.
Brass Eyed Dragons are a doom rock outfit based in Teesside led by charismatic, neurodivergent, steampunk front man Jamie.
The Jam Buddies are a small group of passionate music lovers who meet weekly to practise their skills and have fun playing together.
“The reason for the band is that we all love music. We attend this band as a group. We learn on each other and learn new skills from each other.”
The band are influenced by a range of genres, from pop, rock, folk, blues and more! At some point in the future, they would love to start writing some of their own music too.
Full Circle is a professional learning disability theatre company where the members create all their own work. They have toured regionally, were commissioned to perform at SIRF last year and held a Stomping Grounds festival with lots of local groups at ARC in February which was a sell out success. The company has a visual style all of their own and love using humour to look at things which are important. They have been experimenting with mask theatre and will be sharing a comedy sketch about Dennis and Lily looking back on some memories of when things didn’t quite go according to plan.
DJ Gav and The Megatron have been brought together especially to compere the Behind the Curtain Cabaret. They both love to make people laugh so buckle up – it’s gonna be quite a ride!
The ARCtic Piranha’s design fun, safe and inclusive club night events for learning disabled adults based at ARC Stockton Arts Centre. The planning group design it all: from the theme, to the décor and the music selection. We even have a few DJs in the group who go onto the decks during the event to get the party started.
