Between the Tides Festival

Between the Tides, Redcar & Cleveland’s flagship festival for children, young people and families returns to the streets of Redcar on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 August.

A free weekend of adventure and exploration for children and their grown-ups, the festival will transform the town into an exciting spectacle of theatre, puppetry, circus, dance, storytelling and live music.

Redcar will welcome a colourful cast of characters with pop up performances from nationally renowned outdoor arts companies. Highlights include:

  • Meet 2FaceDance’s Fish Boy and join him on his fin-tastic quest to save his river.
  • Soar through magical kingdoms and imaginary dreamworlds on Studio GoGo’s thrilling Virtual Reality Swings
  • Step inside Talking Bird’s giant silver whale to experience a fun, immersive show for intrepid sailors of all ages.
  • Watch heartwarming stories of friendship and home in Puppet A La Carte’s The Story of the Scary Noise
  • Say hello to Hikapee and their giant revolving parasol in a high energy, outdoor circus theatre show
  • Visit the Actual Reality Arcade – a life sized interactive game zone for all ages inspired by classic retro games.
  • Cheer on the unlikely hero Wilford in SEED – a wild visual and movement based outdoor theatre by Pif-Paf that looks at our relationship with the long suffering plants that keep us fed, sheltered and breathing
  • Tuck into tasty street food and treats at the Pick ‘N’ Mix market

Between the Tides also welcomes back Architects of Air with another incredible Luminarium installation in the grounds of Kirkleatham Museum.  This will be a different structure than last year’s so visitors will be welcome to return for another amazing wander through a magical labyrinth of saturated light tunnels.  Open Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 August, this was a total sell out last year so don’t leave it too late for tickets.   Keep an eye on the website for on sale details and prices.  www.redcarcleveland.co.uk/enjoy/between-the-tides-festival

Relaxed Peformances
