Dragonflies – Teesside Hospice

Dedicate a beautiful keepsake Dragonfly today in memory of your loved ones.

Our poignant Dragonfly Appeal offers you the opportunity to remember a loved one with a personalised handcrafted, galvanised-steel and copper dragonfly.

There will be a special installation of dragonflies at Wynyard Walled Gardens, Wynyard Hall, which will all have been purchased in memory of someone. This installation will run from the 10th September- 8th October. After the installation, you will be able to collect your Dragonfly to take home & display in any way that you want. Whether you’ve lost someone at the hospice or not, you can still dedicate a dragonfly to your loved one. Throughout the campaign, we want to highlight our bereavement services. Unfortunately, our bereavement services are not funded and cost the hospice over £90,000 to run each year.

Did you know: 

• We provide free counselling and bereavement support for anyone.
• You do not need to have had someone die at the hospice to access the services
• 80% of people that use our bereavement services are not affiliated with the hospice – It can be any bereavement including suicide and road traffic accidents.

Why the Dragonfly?

The Dragonfly fits perfectly with this in-memory campaign as it is a story which is used by Teesside Hospice to support grieving parents and their children to help them come to terms with death or what is going to happen leading up to a death. To read the story of the Dragonfly click here.

About our Dragonfly

Our dragonflies are handcrafted at the British Ironworks Centre, although identical, no two are the same. They are made from Galvanised steel and copper, meaning they’re long-lasting and durable, to last the brightest of summers and the coldest of winters.
