Gala Screening – Streets of Steel: The History of Witton Park

The Tees Valley International Film Festival proudly presents “Streets of Steel: The History of Witton Park” a documentary channeling over 200 years of a Durham village born out of the industrial revolution. The film accounts Witton Park’s involvement in the birth of the railways, alongside the village housing the largest ironworks in Europe.

Including archival footage, never-before-seen photographs and interviews with villagers and historians, this documentary is made even more fascinating by the fact that it was written and directed by 16-year-old Darlington student Michael Smith.

Having seen the professional standard of the film and its breathtaking entertainment and educational value, TVIFF was immensely keen to share “Streets of Steel: The History of Witton Park” with the world and also support a young local filmmaker who is, no doubt, a star of tomorrow.
