Poetry of the People: A Write Yourself Well Showcase

Join us for a powerful evening of words, voice and community at Poetry of the People, a special showcase celebrating selected poets from the 2025 WYWTeesEvents Open Mic nights.

This event brings together 10 standout poets whose work has moved, surprised and inspired hosts Aisha Lama and Georgia Goodson. The night will shine a spotlight on the undiscovered and underrepresented talent emerging from our local writing community.

Expect moving words, bold storytelling and powerful performances exploring identity, place, resilience and joy. From intimate reflections to rallying cries, these are voices rooted in Teesside, sharing work that is honest, urgent and unforgettable.

Whether you’re a regular at our open mics or discovering Write Yourself Well for the first time, this showcase is a celebration of grassroots creativity and the incredible poetic talent thriving in our region.
