Apprenticeships are designed to help you to gain hands-on experience within almost any industry. You learn new practical skills while earning a qualification and receiving a living wage.
They take one to five years to complete and are open to anyone over the age of 16.
Alongside on the job training, apprentices spend at least 20% of their working hours completing classroom-based learning with a college, university or training provider. This leads to a nationally recognised qualification.
Apprenticeships have the following equivalent educational levels:
If aged between 16 – 18, or in the first year of an apprenticeship, an apprentice will receive the apprentice rate.
If the apprentice is aged 19 or over and has completed the first year of the apprenticeship, an apprentice is entitled to the National Minimum Wage.
