Apprenticeships

 Mobile

Looking to build a well-paid, high-quality career to be proud of?

Apprenticeships are a brilliant way to gain hands-on experience and job specific skills, all while earning a wage. Some apprenticeships will also give you the opportunity to gain a qualification.

Available in almost any industry, apprenticeships are open to anyone over the age of 16.

Alongside on-the-job training, some apprenticeships will give you time for training and study related to your role. Some apprentices spend at least 20% of their normal working hours completing classroom-based learning with a college, university or training provider, leading to a nationally recognised qualification.

How long do apprenticeships take to complete?

Apprenticeships take 1 to 5 years to complete, depending on:

  • the type of apprenticeship
  • the level you choose
  • your previous experience

If you take a break from learning, it may take longer to finish.

What Apprenticeship Levels are available?

Apprenticeship levels range from level 2 through to level 7.

  • Level 2 (equal to GCSE)
  • Level 3 (equal to A Level)
  • Levels 4 to 5 (equal to Higher National Certificate/Diploma)
  • Levels 6 to 7 (Degree and Master's level)

What will I get paid?

Apprentices are entitled to the National Minimum Wage for apprentices if they’re aged

  • 16 to 18
  • 19 or older and in the first year of their apprenticeship

If you’re 19 or older and have completed the first year of an apprenticeship, you’re entitled to the National minimum wage or national living wage rate for your age.

Some employers may choose to pay above the National Minimum Wage.
