Higher and degree apprenticeships are an alternative option to university for those taught up to a Level 3 (A Level or equivalent).
A higher apprenticeship is a Level 4 – 5 and equivalent to a foundation degree. If you don’t already have GCSE English and maths, it is likely you will need to take a Functional Skills course as part of the apprenticeship, which is an alternative to GCSEs. Higher apprenticeships are available in a wide range of areas.
A degree apprenticeship is a Level 6 – 7 and equivalent to a bachelor’s or master’s degree. Like most apprenticeships, time will be split between on-the-job training (80%) and learning in a college/university environment (20%).
Higher and degree apprenticeships usually take three-six years to complete dependent on the course level.
