Darlington to Hartlepool Rail Improvements

There are currently no regular direct rail services between two major urban centres in the Tees Valley: Darlington and Hartlepool. 

The lack of a services creates a barrier to job opportunities such as the Darlington Economic Campus, Central Park and other key Darlington sites and the Hartlepool Development Corporation, Northern Studios and Investment Zone site in Hartlepool.  

This project would build on major improvements at both Darlington and Hartlepool stations.  

A total of £40million for the project was signed off by TVCA Cabinet in January 2024.
