South Bank Station Transport Hub

Travel

South Bank station plays an important role in the region’s rail network and the future ambitions of the Teesworks site.

It is served by one train per hour in each direction but there is a real need to improve access – particularly to the Eastbound platform.

The footbridge link over the railway line needs replacing – and this will require track realignment and a new widened platform.

This will allow a new fully accessible footbridge with lifts or ramps to built.

Part of the £40million station project redevelopment will see the creation of a transport hub – including a park and ride facility and road improvements.

This will help provide improved access to the significant job opportunities to come nearby at Teesworks.

£40million allocation agreed by TVCA Cabinet January 2024
