Teesside International Airport Railway Station

Travel

Teesside Airport railway station has been in poor condition for several years – leading to a downgrading of its services.

Its one train per week has been temporarily withdrawn due to safety concerns. The footbridge and unused platform has been demolished to ensure the safe passing of trains.

The platform is being repaired so the single weekly service can be reintroduced.

This project, allocated £20million by the TVCA Cabinet and Mayor in January 2024, aims to redevelop the station on its existing site – with step free access to each platform, and consideration for how passengers get to airport terminal and key job sites such as the under-construction Business Park South and the expanding Business Park North.

The introduction of more services to the station are dependent on capacity constraints being addressed at Darlington and Middlesbrough.
