The Eastern Tees Crossing

Travel

The concept of an Eastern Tees Crossing has been discussed for decades.

Previous work by the Combined Authority has explored the concept of an additional crossing of the River Tees east of existing structures to link Hartlepool and Redcar.

Joining up industrial development either side of the river aims to boost growth and connectivity as well as supporting long term regeneration plans.

An Eastern Crossing also has the potential to significantly cut north-south journey times in Tees Valley – and support the productivity of priority advanced manufacturing and chemicals processing.

Work to date has acknowledged the Eastern Crossing is still at concept stage.

An allocation of £1million for a more detailed strategic outline business case was agreed by Combined Authority Cabinet in January 2024.
