There are several access routes over the railway line into Redcar Town Centre – and West Dyke Road provides the main access.
With a rise in the number of rail services to or beyond Redcar, the level crossing near Redcar Central Station is becoming a key pinch point.
The increased amount of time with the barriers down is now disrupting the traffic flow through the town and causing performance and reliability issues for bus services.
This feasibility work will consider whether there is an alternative to the current level crossing – including exploring whether a bridge can be built at West Dyke Road or at any alternative locations along the line.
