Mayor Ben Houchen has today (October 7) called on the region’s businesses to register for 2020’s Tees Valley Business Summit, as there is only one week to go until this year’s event kicks off.

The ninth annual Business Summit is taking place virtually this year because of restrictions in place due to the coronavirus pandemic, but it is still shaping up to be a must-see for businesses of all sizes operating in the region.

Running on Wednesday, 14 October and Thursday, 15 October, the summit will bring together more than 500 delegates, 50 exhibitors and more than 15 speakers for another year of networking, seminars and access to business support.

Mayor Houchen will kick off proceedings with the inaugural address on Wednesday morning, before seminars on topics such as the opportunities at Teesworks, the newly rebranded South Tees Development Corporation site and the UK’s largest industrial zone; the latest developments at Teesside International Airport; the multi-billion pound clean energy Net Zero Teesside project and much more.

Mayor Houchen said: “The Tees Valley Business Summit is one of the most important dates in the diary for businesses of all sectors across Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool. As we do everything we can to support our businesses against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic, it’s more important than ever for our fantastic firms to take the opportunity to come together virtually to network and share their experiences.

“As ever, companies from across all sectors will be able to discover what business support is available for them, as well as make new contacts and strengthen old ties, generate new business and discover fresh opportunities.

“I’d urge all of our businesses to sign up and learn for themselves the exciting projects taking shape in our region, and how they can work together even more closely with the rest of the business community so we can drive growth and support investment and jobs for local people across Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool.”

Paul McEldon, Chair of North East Enterprise Agency, said: “North East Enterprise Agency is once again pleased and proud to support the Tees Valley Business Summit. It is really important for those taking their first steps into an entrepreneurial future to network extensively, to gain useful contacts and to learn from others.

“Attending the Summit is an ideal way to achieve this, both by meeting and exploring mutual interests with other local businesses and by coming along to the range of seminars we are delivering at the Summit, which will provide invaluable insights and knowledge.”

Tees Valley Business Summit was put together in association with the Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority, UMi and the North East Enterprise Agency Ltd.
