Raft of Paid Summer Internships Open at Tees Valley Combined Authority

Budding leaders of tomorrow have been urged to put their name forward as the Tees Valley Combined Authority opens its summer internship programme.

Recruitment for this summer’s scheme opens on Thursday (6 July) – with students and new graduates looking for three weeks of paid work being sought.

Successful applicants will be paid the Real Living Wage of £10.90 per hour for their time. Roles in Culture and Tourism, Communications and Marketing, Net Zero, Transport, Business and Skills and Human Resources are up for grabs.

Spots will also be available in the Office of the Tees Valley Mayor.

Applications are open to students aged 18+ resident in the Tees Valley who are studying at degree level – whether at the end of your first, second or final year.

Students or graduates can be studying outside of the region, with placements based at Teesside Airport.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “This is a great opportunity for the brightest young minds of Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool to get valuable experience in regional government.

“We are currently at the heart of one of the most exciting times for our part of the world – and there is no better way for our leaders of tomorrow to gain valuable experience with us by seeing what we’re doing close-up and offering their own input.

“It’s a chance for them to see how they can stay local but go far, thanks to the huge opportunities on their doorstep for a lifelong career in local, regional or national Government – thanks to the Darlington Economic Campus becoming home to more than 1,000 civil service jobs in major departments.

“We’re committed to making our region an economic engine to power the country – and this is a great chance for play a key role in that mission.”

Applications are open for two weeks until Thursday, 20 July, with interviews taking place in the week commencing Monday, July 24.

Placements will take place from 7 August to 25 August.
