Passengers travelling to one of Tees Valley’s leading shopping destinations have received a major boost with the launch of three new bus routes.
Stagecoach services 36, 37 and 38 will now stop at Teesside Park for the first time – giving shoppers from Hartlepool, Norton, and Billingham direct access.
The routes were officially launched on Monday (6 November) and they will connect Hartlepool, Norton and Billingham to Teesside Park.
The expanded services will stop at three different locations at Teesside Park.
Fares for the services fall under the Government’s Bus Fare Cap, meaning all single tickets will cost a maximum of £2.
The services run multiple times an hour from Monday to Saturday, with a reduced service on Sunday, and three stops outside DFS, JD Sports and Currys.
Discounted annual rates for those working at Teesside Park are also available.
Tees Valley Mayor Houchen said: “Teesside Park is a retail magnet for our region and I’m delighted Stagecoach has committed to these three extensions into the much-loved complex. We’re making strides when it comes to working go with operators to improve routes and link more communities together.
“It’s also another way people can benefit from the Government’s Bus Fare Cap. It was great to have been one of the first people to take a ride around the Park this week – I really hope I’ll be the first of many.”
Matt Vickers, MP for Stockton South added: “As a long-time supporter of Teesside Park, I know these affordable Stagecoach services are going to make a real difference for the hundreds of workers and shoppers that visit the Park every day. This is great news for the area and especially for the young people that Teesside Park supports into employment every year.”
Catherine Furlong, centre director at Teesside Park, said: “We’ve been working hard to secure better public transport links to Teesside Park and are absolutely thrilled to take the new Stagecoach services. These updated bus routes will help make Teesside Park more accessible and we know this will make a big difference to our visitors and staff.
“There is no better time to increase our connectivity with several new retail stores and food outlets set to open their doors in the coming months.
“It’s fantastic to welcome Stockon South MP Matt Vickers to Teesside Park for the launch and we look forward to working with Stagecoach to ensure the routes are a success.”
Steve Walker, Managing Director for Stagecoach North East, said: “Buses play a key role in connecting local communities to retail, leisure, jobs and opportunities.
