Redcar and Cleveland is the location for the British Cycling National Road Championships Road Races on Sunday 23rd June.
The course will provides a major test for the riders as they take on multiple laps, with a start and finish in the stunning seaside town of Saltburn and unrelenting climbs of East Cleveland’s roads.
Crowds will again pack the route after huge turnout in 2023 where riders were cheered on by thousands of supporters as the race reached its climax at the top of Saltburn bank.

To help us stay green and to reduce our carbon footprint we encourage visitors to use alternative, eco-friendly modes of transport when travelling to Saltburn and the surrounding areas. There are likely to be short delays for all road users, so please do plan your journey carefully to avoid disruption. We highly recommended using rail or the park and ride service where possible.

Car parking will be limited in Saltburn and we encourage visitors to plan their journeys and arrive early where possible. Again, we strongly recommended using public transport where possible.

Sustrans will be present all day at Marine Parade, offering free, secure bike storage and a Dr Bike repair service.
Free Secure Bike Storage: Those travelling by bike can store it safely with Sustrans for free. The Sustrans team will monitor the bikes all day. Cyclists simply need to arrive with their bike, and a team member will provide a raffle ticket for later collection. While staff will oversee the storage area, bikes are left at the owner’s risk. Bringing a bike lock is recommended for added security.
Dr Bike Check: Visitors with a bike can stop by the Sustrans stand for a free bike health check by the Dr Bike team.

To accommodate the start / finish of the road race, Glenside will be closed to all traffic from 0600 – 1900, from its junction with Windsor Road to the junction with Albion Terrace.
Car parking will also be suspended from 00:01 on Sunday 23rd June. The rest of the route will be operating on a rolling closure with roads closed for a short window of around 15 mins whilst the race passes through. There will be a clearway order implemented on the day meaning any parking on the race route will be suspended from 0600.
For your safety and to assist your enjoyment please:
• Remember the races progresses at a fast pace, please don’t stand in the road even to get a photograph;
• Don’t cross the road once the lead car has passed; the race will be coming at speed;
• Arrive early, the race can go quicker or slower than planned. If you can’t get to a start or finish location, check out other key climbs or points of interest on route.
• Plan your journey in advance some bus services may be suspended or delayed so check with travel operators;
• Don’t park on the roadside on the racecourse, find a safe off-road position;
• Listen to the Marshalls, their advice is your safety;
• Support local businesses
• And lastly watch the race, wave those flags! Smile: you may be on TV and lets show the UK what Redcar and Cleveland has to offer!
