Inspiration | Published on: 3rd March 2021

Following the news that Darlington is going to be the base for the Treasury North, we wanted to share a few reasons why we think the Treasury is going to love Darlington as much as we do.

Darlington stands tall, just like it’s famous clock tower!

This iconic landmark that sits in the centre of Darlington was a gift to the town by the industrialist Joseph Pease in 1864. The clock’s face was produced by T. Cooke & Sons of  York, and the tower bells were cast by John Warner & Sons of nearby Norton-on-Tees.

You may be wondering why we’re telling you this?

The clock bells are in fact the sister bells to those which are inside the Elizabeth Tower at the Houses of Parliament in London, the most famous of which is of courseBig Ben.

So not only is there so many great things to do in Darlington but the Treasury will feel right at home.

Here’s just seven of our suggestions of more things to see and do in Darlington…
